This fella does! When capturing a game scene, you have to be actively viewing the page for it to update. Hence, if you also alt+tab out of a page while streaming then it will freeze the video on the last updating frame. Make sure as well you're pointing it at the correct game or program you want to capture.

Ok. If you start OBS outside of a game while its running, and try to view it w/o opening the game back up, the stream wont update video and thusly you'll get a black screen, but simply opening the game up will fix this.

OR, you could have OBS looking for the wrong program to stream, can you access the settings for "game capture" to make sure its looking at the right program to record?

yup, the planetside 2 engine being the biggest PITA of them all. Quite a few games will crash when you try to stream with OBS. Just have to tinker with it.

Game Capture is for when the game is running in Full Screen. If you alt+tab out of fullscreen, then there is nothing to be captured.

If your game is not running in full screen, but a fullscreen window, then use window capture

because the game isn't in full screen, alt tabbing back into the game puts it at full screen

Hi,

Are you selecting the game from the dropdown in Game capture, or are you using the hotkey method to hook the game?

What game are you trying to capture?

Also, keep in mind that with fullscreen games, you have to have the game focused for it to be captured. Otherwise, it stops rendering if you are alt-tabbed, which could manifest as a black screen or a frozen frame.
