Multiple audio sources for one headphone?

fredghostkyle

Hi, While I'm an avid PC gamer, GTA V and Halo are still not available for PC so I have an Xbox 360. But I'd rather listen to Skype and Pandora from my computer but still want to hear the game's audio as well. Is there any way I can have multiple inputs then one/two outs? Like a sound board.

Plug the audio out of the console to line in jack of the PC. The PC's onboard/soundcard will do the mixing for you. Just make sure the console can output analog audio signal. If it can't, then you'd need a DAC in between to convert it to analog signal first. This is because PC's line in only accepts analog signals.

Can't you have Skype and/or Pandora on in the background on the Xbox One?

Just make sure the console can output analog audio signal.

I think that's the problem - the new consoles only have HDMI and optical outputs. With the controller headset adapter, would work fine, but then you'd have a jumble of cables going to and fro' the controller.

Yes, but that's not proper. Works in a pinch, but not recommended for long term use.

I can get console out to anything, trust me. Turtle Beach has taught me that.

How could this be bad for you headphones? Listen to any music? They usually have 5 different loops or recordings of music (take a look at any music software, loops get layers on top of each other for the desired effect). I can see no reason for this to be bad for your headphones (and truth be told, I would not care :P ).

  • 3 months later...

This is a very bad solution because as soon as you plug a second source(input) the sound is lowered dramatically.

So I decided to look for another solution like a mixer and I would like one that is USB powered and I found this one. It's overkill for what I want to do but I can't really find anything else that is USB powered.
