Was just wondering what kinda stuff you can do with this thing? I had looked into it in the past, this new one seems like it's a big improvement so I was thinking about picking it up when it's released.

Current PC build: [CPU: Intel i7 8700k] [GPU: GTX 1070 Asus ROG Strix] [Ram: Corsair LPX 32GB 3000MHz] [Mobo: Asus Prime Z370-A] [SSD: Samsung 970 EVO 500GB primary + Samsung 860 Evo 1TB secondary] [PSU: EVGA SuperNova G2 750w 80plus] [Monitors: Dual Dell Ultrasharp U2718Qs, 4k IPS] [Case: Fractal Design R5]

Wow, that's pretty good. Quad-core, 900MHz microcomputer that you can do THINGS with. I am tempted to buy one, even though I have no money. It's TINY!

This will actually be really useful for a lot of things.

Want! I was getting tired of how slow my pi was, this should do the trick :).

What do you guys do with yours? I am thinking of getting one but I want to actually do something useful with it if I'm going to spend the money lol.

A lot of want. I wish the CPU had an IHS so I could stick a cooler to it and OC it a little bit. Imagine what you could do!

OMG overclocking a pi!

I've never actually had one. I'm still a poor student. I have a powerful gaming computer, but there's nothing really that I've ever had to use a Raspberry Pi for. I'd really like to get into it, though.

And I mean, come on, it's not really that much, I mean $35 for a full-blown computer!

It's not bad!

I wonder how fast it would be as like a daily computer just for checking email. Do you need to attach storage? It seems too small to "have it all".

I did some small projects to screw around with it, but now I am planning on turning it into a small file and media server. Ideally I want to make it portable, but it uses a lot of power for not having much performance lol The new pi should work wonders though.

I put a couple of these on my pi:

Yep :) I had some laying around from the good ol' days of PC modding/overclocking lol. I remember when these were mainstream and everybody installed them on their graphics cards.

Do you know what's better than air? Some dude got to the max clock of 4133MHz on one of the original Pi's. Used what is essentially compressed air, http://www.raspberryshop.es/wp/en/overclocking-a-la-raspberry-pi-a-4ghz-alguien-da-mas/

I imagine like everything people asked questions why they did that.

"Why?, because why not?" - I imagine, lol.

exactly. A 4GHz Raspberry Pi? I dread to think what a Pi 2 would be like at that speed. It'll outstrip a lot of (older) desktops, I bet. Nothing to sniff at, that.

And it supposedly will support a specially-made ARM version of Windows 10. Wow.

Everyone's been chatting about how this will help "bring computers to the poor people in Africa". Finally, a computer small enough, cheap enough and powerful enough to actually get some work done over there.

Yes I thought the WIndows 10 thing was interesting. I think I'm going to buy this and give it a shot, it's only $35. Gonna install Windows 10 first thing to check it out. Then from there find out some cool things to do with it, but I have no clue at this point what that will be.

I'm more interested in the Linux-based applications for this. Everyone bashes AMD for being rubbish compared to Intel, but AMD has made Linux users in particular very, very happy indeed, particularly with the 8-cores. Raspberry Pi obviously is ARM-based and isn't an octacore, but the extra cores it does have will be a godsend for people who want to have some miniature badassery on their Pi.

You will be getting Windows 10 for free (http://www.raspberrypi.org/raspberry-pi-2-on-sale/) on the new Pi's, so for $35, definity a very good deal!

I've ordered 2 already :D
