So I currently play a laptop that is not very good for gaming. An example of how bad it is, I have to play LoL on the very minimal settings and to avg 60FPS (can spike up to like 80-90 and drop down to 20-30ish in uncapped) but maintains at 60 well. Except when I get lag spikes

Now lately I have been getting a lot of lag spike while playing. could be the game. But its most likely this crappy laptop.

I was thinking about lowering the resolution, figure that might help some. But when I lower the resolution on my laptop I get two black borders about a Inch thick on the sides, and If I go into the AMD Video card settings, and adjust the screen from centered to Full screen it becomes disgustinly stretched, or centered again if I use the last option "maintain aspect ratio"

The Maximum and recommend Resultion is 1366 x 768 which is what I have been using and is the default resolution.

I tried bringing it down to 1024 x 768 and thats when I get the borders or nasty stretch.

My question is, is there anyway to clean of the image?? or Should I just leave it set to 1366 x 768

You could probably bring it down to 683x384)It is in sync with a 1366x768) in the game folder. But it would look shit.

It sounds like your laptop is overheating, Or you have viruses/many programs working in the background.

Clean out the dust from it and see if it helps.

what laptop do you use?
You already use a low screen resolution by default. you could lower it even more but in my opinion that wouldn't be an option. you will be playing an 16 bit game then and there wouldn't be a big fps gain.
I think you're stuck with the fps you have right now :/

Get a cooler for underneath your laptop.

Helped my piece of crap i5+640m /w OC by dropping 10*c and stops the fans kicking in hardcore, also stops declocking happening much sooner when towards the high temps,..which is what Im thinking is happening to you..

Time = heat buildup = potential throttling problems

Fresh air = heat dissipation = less of an issue, or at all.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

I actually do have a laptop fan, its the cooler master X shaped one. I just stop using it, cause its loud, and I didnt feel like it helped at all, but I guess I will try using it again

What would be a free way of cleaning out viruses, malware, spyware?

I know I have heard of Avast, I used a unlocked keygen version of Advanced System Care Pro.

Curious if I should try using Avast or other programs

Avast is one of the best antiviruses out there, Start with that, Do a startup-scan.

and if that doesnt help you could try Malwarebytes.
