Hello folks,

i'm new here, please be kind ;)

Here is my Story:

Until yesterday i had a good gaming pc (specs below), i could play everything at good settings and was happy.

Today my new 4K Monitor came but i quickly realized that i could not play games at 4k resolution. I'm not happy anymore...

I'm not deep into hardware but i would say there are two ways to upgrade my pc to support games at 4k:

  1. Buy a 2. GTX 750 Ti OC and connect it via SLI to my existing one
  2. Buy a GTX 980

Is a 2. GTX 750 enough or do i need to spend much money on a 980?  Is there maybe a better/cheaper way?

Sorry for the bad english, i'm just a german guy that somehow got here  :D

My PC:

  • 530W Power
  • Intel Core i7 3770
  • Gigabyte GeForce GTX 750 Ti OC
  • 16 GB RAM
  • ASRock Z77 Extreme4
  • Win 7 x64
  • 1 TB HDD (Data) + 200 GB SSD (System)
  • 2x 1080p Monitor + 1x 4k Monitor + 1x 1080p TV (sometimes)

The 750Ti does not support SLI so upgrading to a new card is your only option

Go SLI 970 only a little more than a single 980 but will yield better overall performance, will also need a new psu if you plan to overclock but at stock clocks you should be fine for a while

I wouldn't recommend that if he wants to play at 4k, VRAM issues on 970 can really screw things up at that res

Want a good game to play?  Check out Shadowrun: http://store.steampowered.com/app/300550/ (runs on literally any hardware)

I would highly recommend an R9 295x2, it's by far the best value for 4k gaming imo. It'll be nearly 2x the performance in games with crossfire support for a little bit more money. You'll have to buy a new PSU though (still worth it).

RIP in pepperonis m8s

From what I have heard those "updates" only disable the bad ram.  Since it's a hardware issue, waiting isn't going to do any good

yep r9 295x2, may be a tad expensive but it's the best value 4k gaming card, you'll need to get  anew PSU like a Corsair RM series or Coolermaster V series or an EVGA PSU.

Main PC: Core i5 4670 | MSI Mpower Max z87 | G.Skill Ripjaws 2x4gb | Stock intel cooler | PNY GTX 770 2gb (hoping to upgrade) | Seagate 1tb 7200rpm | Corsair RM850 | Corsair Carbide Air 540 | PCCG custom sleeved black/yellow extensions | Corsair K70 Cherry MX Blue | Corsair M45 |

Phone: LG Nexus 5 | Headphones: Audio Technica ATH-PDG1, Shure SRH440 | Laptop: Asus 303la (i5 model, 1600x900 res) | Motorbikes: 2004 Sherco 290i, 2013 Husqvarna CR125 | Xbox one

The R9 295x2 unfortunately is a little bit out of my price range....

I don't really need the high end performance for ultra high settings.

Even with my 130€ GPU i can play games at 4k (like CS:GO, lol) i dont think that i need 1000€ for some medium settings at games like Elite: Dangerous?

It can't be fixed, therefore it's permanent.
