No, Gigabyte is certainly not a bad manufacturer, In fact, they are one of the best out there.

Gigabyte does not made their GPU drivers. They only change the PCB and the cooling system (Including the shroud, fans, heatsink, heat pipes and backplate) and sometimes do a factory overclock.

Gigabyte is a good brand, In fact, one of the three highly recommended manufacturer so there is nothing to be worried about.

Gigabyte is one of my preferred manufacturers. If I have the choice between ASUS, MSI and Gigabyte I will pick as follows: Gigabyte > MSI > ASUS.

Your friends seem to be some kind of marketing victim ^^

The only issue with Gigabyte is that they have hardware locked the voltage of 7970 and possible 7950 GPU and unsuspecting overclockers aren't happy about it!!

Gigabyte is one of the best motherboard manufacturers, they also make pretty decent graphics cards. You're friend doesn't have a clue of what he's talking about. And no, the gtx 770 is nowhere near being better than the gtx 780. What made you think that the 770 was better?

Is gtx 770 better then gtx 780?

If you can't afford the GTX 780 but you can afford a GTX 770 then yes it's better otherwise no, the 780 is a lot better but only if you can afford to get it in the first place.

Is one thing better than the other, it really depends on the price of the item and what you can afford.

Is the Core i3 better than a Core i5 or i7, yes it is but only if you can't afford a Core i5 or Core i7, I hope that makes sense.

An uninformed friend vs a dozen people on a tech forum who have all come to an unanimous conclusion, is it really that difficult for you?
