Display Connections...

DVI and HDMI are the same thing - and carry the same data, HDMI just carries audio and has a smaller connector

Gold only matters if its on the pins but for a digital signal it really makes no difference

So I have an older monitor, (2010 ish era) and the display output options aren't great including only Vga and Dvi connectivity. I have been using a gold plated DVI cable, however I also have a DVI to Hdmi connector with a few spare hdmi cables floating around. I tried it, and it works. Should I just stick to my standard DVI or  go with the Hdmi. Does the Hdmi output from my GPU to the converter give any benifit?? Thx..

ALSO:

Do gold plated cables really make a difference? I almost always opt for them.

Thx :)

you may as well just use the dvi output on your gpu no point in using an adapter.

also gold plating for digital cables is basically a marketing gimmick
