Bit of a sports noob can someone tell me why how much air in a ball matters and how it effects a game so bad (well as bad as there making it out to be).

Its not really a big deal because the outcome would have been the same. It is a big deal because the Patriots tend to....cheat and do other unsportsmanlike things that often go unpunished. This is probably another example.

This is not coincidence. Whether or not the Patriots all knew about it, someone on their end fudged with the balls. But as always, they will not be punished for their game tactics (most likely by claiming they had no idea) and the Colts will be cheated out of a honest game they probably could have won had not someone tampered with the balls..
