Hey,

So I've been looking at SSDs more and I was originally planning to use the Crucial MX100 about 2 months ago then I saw the Crucial M550 and I was like: WOAH! So yeah, I was planning to go with that but I'm not sure if it's the best choice to get when it comes to Crucial SSDs or SSDs at all...

I know Crucial may not have the best SSDs but they have good ones and they are for decent prices unlike some Intel and Samsung SSDs.

My budget on the SSD is probably around 120 which is around what the price of the M550 and I'm wanting good read and write speeds and a good price for a 248 or 256 GB SSD.

So, what should I get?

MX100, M500, M550 or are there any other ones that have competitive read/write speeds and are a decent price.

Have a look at the Samsung 850 Evo, it's $135 but it's a really fast SSD.

@Suffokation, @X1XNobleX1X, @Carnoustie14, here is my upgrade build:

Thoughts? How much better is it with the Samsung SSD?

Looks good mate.

The EVO is honestly the best SSD out right now, nothing gets infront of it.

It'll just make things snappier and shorten boot times.

Awesome.

I'm hoping to use it as a boot drive. Is it worth me putting a couple of my main games on it too? Will it improve gameplay or booting them up if they normally take a while?

Well, games are getting massive these days, so I'd say just plop it onto a hard drive.

It isn't really worth sacrificing the storage space for shorter loading times.

500'TH POST!

Haha! Nice! Can't you edit the member thing away now?

I'll just put them on my hard drive then.

Few days ago, I was in the same dilemma as you are and I went for the M550 as it was priced similar to the MX100. When it comes to the 256GB variant, the M550 has much much better write speeds compared to the MX100 so go for the M550 if the prices are really close.

Samsung 850 is really good too, better than the M550, but it was more expensive than the M550 and in real world usage you won't notice a difference between either. So if your on a tight budget go for the crucial ones, you won't regret it
