no, only real worthy upgrade would be a 970 or a 290

and if crossfire the 270x is it really worth it or just a waste of money?

go for the 290X option

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

Id get another 270x.

I dont think its worth upgrading because they perform around the same, the GTX is probably a little bit faster, but not enough to warrant an upgrade from and R9 270x, So i would recommend a second 270x  :)
