CMOS Battery Failure

Hello everyone,

I am trying to help my friend fix his pc. when he tries to turn it on, he gets an error message saying 

 

Alert! Previous attempts at booting this system have failed at checkpoint [FEH]

For help in resolving this problem, please note this checkpoint and contact

Dell Technical Support.

 

Diskette drive 0 seek failure

CMOS checksum failure

CMOS battery failure

 

The pc was in his house during a fire, and was sprayed with water while it was off. (has since been dried)

 

Can anyone help?

Take out the CMOS battery for an hour or two. Otherwise you might need a new one. And the drive may be damaged as well

Try taking out the CMOS battery for an hour or two and then see what happens, and if it's dead you could replace it easily (a 4-pack of high-quality ones is like $10 at Home Depot)

he has one from a different pc that works, does he still need to leave it out for an hour or two for it to reset and work?

if the battery is dead.. then is dead.. wtf your 2 hours gonna do guys?? -.- just get a new one
