Help with Bare Blu-ray drive

I recently bought an LG BLu-ray drive (WH16NS40). I can't seem to get it to play blu-rays. It is able to play music just fine, but no blu-rays.

First things first

 

Laptop or desktop ? Did you install drivers ?

Yes I've installed the drivers. And i've tried re installing them. Desktop. I listed the specs below.  I am able to play and read cds and dvd's. and i can watch video from dvd's but it just shows me file content rather than playing blu-rays

Did you load the bluray player software?

The cheaper (bare) blu ray drives are from the blu ray licensing software not being included. More information here.

The OS you're using likely doesn't come with Blu-Ray codec included. Download a player that supports decoding Blu-Ray, such as VLC.
