It's a great case, the only thing is if your putting a 120mm vertical air cooler in there it's going to be nearly impossible the put the fan on the front if you're using the first and/or second drive mounts so you have to to put the fan on the back of the cooler and remove the rear 140mm so it exhaust out the back, but if your using a low profile/stock cooler this isn't a problem. Also note: if your using the PCI-E slots if the card is more than 7 inches long you can't use the mount behind the card.

How could would be a node 304 for a home game server? Is the airflow good out of the box?

I use a 304 for my TV server. I have had no problems with heat building up inside the case. There are 4 mechanical drives and 2 SSDs, a 3570k with the stock heatsink using the out of box fans on the slowest settings. It transcodes and streams video 24/7.

Won't be using a video card. Maybe only a PCI-E wireless card. May get a EVO only if I'm not satisfied with stock cooler noise.

Hmm, semms great, what about the PSU? I guess if you avoid carpet PSU can obviously get enough air, right?

Mine is on a wooden shelf in an enclosed wiring cupboard. You could always keep it on a glass/wooden chopping board or something similar if your carpet is super thick.
