Hey guys I recently received an xbone as a gift, I thought I would take advantage of this by buying GTA V. So I bought a GTA V disk from a local store inserted the disk and it started installing. An hour later it finished its thing and my girlfriend launched the game, she said she was prompted with a few things that she ignored. So the problem I am having now is that the game will not allow me to play without the disk:s is this how console games work ?:P the last console I had was a psx and all you had to do is insert a disk and play this installed 50 gigs of data on the xbones HDD.. I am not 100% aware of how this stuff works now but isn't there a way 2 link it to my xbox one account or something like that? I have looked on the net and not found the solution so wondering if anyone can clarify this for me:o

Thnx

Well the DRM policy that microsoft introduced which everyone complained about, would have been such that if you "install" the game, you wouldn't need the disk to play it. But the internet got out of hand and it didn't happen. But as @tmlhalo said you would have to buy a digital version. AKA getting ripped off by micro$oft.

Ah okay, but then again wtf did it install on the console:p either way one more thing I noticed.. inside the game packaging there was a code for 1mil credit. 500 online 500 career mode. I applied that code but it hasn't appeared in game:s the code was accepted (confirmed) but none of that appeared in game is there something I gotta do other than what I did?

The slowest 5400 rpm hard drive puts your average blu ray reader read speeds to shame. They have to install the games for technical / user experience reasons to cut back on load times. You have to insert the disc just to verify you still own a physical copy otherwise you could borrow / rent games and have them all if you could continue playing without the disc.*

*Their original policy was online drm so they could track the disc but that required hourly check ins which people didn't want, so the policy was scrapped.

The game runs off the HDD AFAIK, and it uses the disc just for verification. HDD is a tiny bit faster than the blu-ray drive.

The 1 mill credit will be for GTA: Online. (I've never played GTA:V so i can't tell you what you use it for) .
