I'm planning on building a new system but the most difficult decision to be made seems to be the case. I have always been in loved with the 750D and it appeared to be the perfect chasis. But I just read it has serious airflow problems because of the restricted front intake. Is that true 750D owners? Should I buy the 760t then?

Thanks in advance!

its not restricted, it has enough airflow

you can also add more fans to the bottom for even more

Corsair is currently developing a new front panel based on the 450D's.  If you don't need the case immediately it should hopefully be ready in a couple of months. You can track the progress here:

I have a 750D, personally the air flow isn't that great. It's a bit restictive but I somehow STILL have dust all over inside my case. I'm planning on getting an Air 540 or a H440 to replace it.

Everybody seems to have different opinions about this case... it is good even if im plannig to stick a couple of gtx 970 in there? (Open cooler design) I really love the looks of the case, but I also want something functional. Does Linus ever comment here?

It's not a good care.

Bad air flow, bad build quality, high price, overused.

If you're really set on the case I wouldn't be too concerned by putting two 970s in there.  Those cards run pretty cool.  I've never seen my card (Gigabyte G1) go over 72C under max load with my case fans set at really low RPM.  @ThatCoolBlueKidd might be able to provide a better answer as to how cards perform in the case.  That being said, the 760T does offer better airflow although it sure doesn't look as sleek as the 750D.   If you're still concerned about the airflow and still want an Obsidian, the 450D is a good option - more than ample airflow and maxing out on case fans means you can run them all real quiet. (LED fans look real good behind the front panel too.)  Only thing I don't like about it is that it could use some more cable management loops and there's no routing hole for front panel audio.  So pretty much what Linus said in his vid review.  You'd need to ditch HDDs or mount them in the 5.25 bay if you're using two tri-fan cooler 970s (eg. Gigabyte, Zotac) though - there isn't enough room for the second one with the cage there.

EDIT: It is actually possible to use the drive cage and SLI two Gigabyte Windforce cooler cards.  Was fiddling with my ODD stealth cover and decided to check the clearance when hanging the drive cage from the ODD bays.  There's about 1-2mm clearance between the backplate and the cage.  I wouldn't recommend it, but it is possible.  It would also open up another 120mm fan slot.

THIS.

As I said, I'm ditching my 750D for an Air 540 asap, I'm not to wow'd by the case as in my opinion, it was slightly overhyped - and not 'corsair quality' in my opinion. At about 10C ambient my 980 reaches 50C easily, 35C with the front cover off though (under light-medium load). The 'brushed aluminium' front panel is really just a glued piece of metal on a piece of plastic, of which my clips broke almost instantly, it's impossible to clean, and the glue is coming undone less than a year into being owned. Airflow certainly isn't good, heck the H440 probably has better air flow.

air flow on that case isn't that great at all trust me, thats why I went with 760T, absolutely no regrets what so ever. the 760T and 780T are great, depending what you like, personally I like the 760T more coz its more open, internal is exactly the same.

Also you might want to consider the air 540, that case has one of the best cooling ever, the air blow directly on to the hot parts of the pc

Thanks for the anser! But if what you say is true, it means that cases like the H440, the 350D and the Define R4 have the same front intake problems?

in a sort of way they all do.

as with the 900D, 750D, 350D all have the front panel (with side reliefs) plus a

fine mesh filter. the H440 has a larger (by volume) openings along the one side

to allow more airflow. the R4 has serrated openings (still more than the Corsair)

as well as a moderate filter mesh. but to all those, they are "hush" cases (muffles

the intake fan noise) at the cost of internal performance. an open style front

intake can be as quiet (depending on fan(s) selected) as a door chassis.

most are minimal restrictions, unless haredcore on lowest temps needed.

Thank you! So in conclusion if I'm planning to stick two gtx 970 with open cooler design (asus strix) and an overclocked i5 cooled with a H100i, the 750D will be okay or not?

Thank both for the answer! Seems to be that the 750D isn't as good option than I though it was, I just want a smooth looking case that is also very functional and has good airflow, now im looking at the air 540 or the 760t (more this case because of the huge window) I'll keep searching other options, thanks!

the 750D will be ok, a bit overkill, but ok.

one chassis to look at would be the phanteks enthoo pro. tad bit smaller, deffo

less expensive, open front grille, and very open case. fan-wise, they don't sell

many fans with it (know peeps like other fans)

Yeah, I read it is an incredible case, but I'm not amazed with the looks of it... considering it on my list, though.

It's a very beautiful case, but with bad airflow.

I'm still waiting for the new front cover from corsair.

Especially in the summer, I have serious problems with high temps.

I'm thinking about to buy a new one, but i don't have the money right now.
Maybe in the summer.
