what do people know of this piece of software for encrypting drives? cause i want to encrypt some of my dad on one of my drives as they are quite sensitive, anyone know of this or maybe recommend something that does the job like truecrypt did.

windows has one built in, but i dont like it much so im with u on this

 The Wannabe is no longer. Replaced by the Flotilla. If you replace every part of a computer is it still the same computer?

im using windows 7, which i beleive it only comes with 8 + and i refuse to use 8 cause it's a mess. but thanks though.

nope its in windows 7 just gimme a sec and i will see how it works

 

EDIT: right click on drive and click bitlocker dunno if it will do it for files but you could partition a drive

Well, you still can use truecrypt. But diskcryptor actually has way better performance esp. if you use a SSD. diskcryptor works fine with Win7. If I remember correctly bitlocker may only be available on "professional" versions of window.

And don't forget to make backups! If anything goes wrong during or after encryption you have no chance to save your data!
