Java for Ubuntu

Go to solution Solved by rockking1379,
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/javasudo apt-get updatesudo apt-get install oracle-java7-installer

the first command will probably ask you to install something, i think that command is

sudo apt-get install software-properties-common

but not 100% sure.

Hey guys. I just installed Ubuntu on an old laptop that I have just so I can see what it's like. I'm trying to install java right now. After I unpack the file that I downloaded, the instructions say that I should see the word done, but I'm not seeing that. It seems that all it is doing is unpacking the file and not installing it. When I try to verify the java version that I have, it says that I don't have java. Can someone just tell me what I'm doing wrong? Thanks a lot!

I think you can install it directly from the store (whatever the name of the store is that's built into Ubuntu).

I actually couldn't underclock my 5 year old GPU to make it as slow as a next-gen console.
