Hard Drive Connection

Go to solution Solved by DigitalHermit,

So what it does is change the SATA connection into something else? Is it a converter?

It plugs in to your PCIe slot to provide additional SATA ports...

Plug everything into your mobo and enough of these and your 18-drive array should work...

Unless you're doing a RAID array, this will be fine...

I suppose you'll be getting a sufficient PSU and enough molex to SATA adapters to power this array so you should be golden....

I need to connect 18 hard drives to my motherboard, because of the ridiculous amount, I'm pretty sure I'm going to need some kind of special cable or cables. Any idea what I need?

a raid card perhaps?

you can get this mobo:

Will you be able to power all of these drives?

Sig under construction.

Can I ask why you need to connect 18 hard drives. If I know why, I could maybe suggest a suitable solution.

Judging by the OPs lack of details, and ridiculous request, this seems like either a troll, or something really stupid, or something 90% of this forum will frown upon.

May I ask what it is for?

He's already shot others down when they asked, and this is his second post today concerning these drives. My view of this whole thing is quite negative. Should be funny though once we finally find out what is up with this ridiculous request.

I'm not trolling, I'm serious.

Then prove it by telling us what you need this for.

Storage, and operating system testing. It's a long story.

Explain more. That still sounds super-sketchy.
