So, what I've been using for some time is an Inspiron 660s with 4GB extra ram, an i3-3250 upgrade, and an AMD Radeon HD 7700 that was a gift. It works well enough, but I figured I could use a system that was build rather than a very cheap one with some hobbled in nicer parts.

So, my current parts add to around 1200 (w/o windows or peripherals, but I'll get to that.), but I guess my preferred budget is below 1500 USD.

I'm using a 1280x1024 LCD monitor, and I will be upgrading EVENTUALLY, but I'll probably stay around the same resolution and size.

The games I'll be looking into running well will be stuff like Borderlands 2 and Witcher 2 (or 3) and games on par with Far Cry 3 and such. I can already run them around 30FPS using medium settings, I'm not -quite- sure what this build will go for, since it is my first.

PARTS LIST.

Case: Corsair Carbide 500R. ~110$ (no preference here, just thought it seemed spacious and the fans were a nice plus)

Motherboard: ASRock Z97 OC Formula. ~220$ (I splurged a little here, no -particular- reason on why)

CPU: Intel i5-4690K Devil's Canyon Quad-Core @ 3.5GHz. ~ 240$. (I thought I would look into OCing eventually, and from what looked into, this would do so well if I got a nice aftermarket fan -in the future)

GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 750 Ti Superclocked 2GB GDDR5. ~150$ (So this is where I'm really torn, because from what I've been told, GTX cards are really good...but generally after the 300 dollar mark. So is this better or worse than a similar range AMD card?)

RAM: G.Skill Sniper series 8GB (2x4) 1866 MHz. ~74$ (Don't know a lot about RAM, but it has decently low latency and good speeds)

SSD/HDD: Samsung 840 EVO 500GB SSD. ~225$. (This is the drive for the build. I also currently have a 1TB Seagate Barracuda w/Windows that I intend to back up on my external and then wipe and use in this build)

PSU: Antec TruePower Classic series 650W. ~100$ (okay so I'm absolutely lost on PSU. My selected GPU requires 300 or higher but I wasn't really sure and this seemed to be a liked product? Suggestions here greatly appreciated!)

OVERALL: General cost of 1140$ before shipping.

Other notes: I intend to piece this together over time, rather than save up for the whole set. Get the MOBO, case, and CPU, then use my current stuff until I can afford the other relevant parts).

Hopefully I did a decent job at explaining and such!

Enjoying new 5800X/3070 build!

It looks good to me and really like those cases, if anyone tries to tell you to get an 850 evo instead of an 840 they don't know what they are talking about lol the performance difference is little to none get whichever one is cheapest for you.

I would budget more for graphics, but that might just be me.

Right? I'd snip money from the motherboard, pretty sure you can get a decent Z97 board for around 120? Save the hundred bucks and get urself a 280X.
