Possible Home Network Attack?

Hello Everyone,

Yesterday after getting home from work I noticed that my internet was not working.

I turned off the router and unplugged it from my switch ( I have three computers, ps3 and 360 all connected to the same switch).

I turned the router back on, and waited for a bit for everything to reconnect. After about 10 minutes none of the PC's had network connection.

My phone and tablet were able to connect to the wifi with no issue.

Upon further investigation, I noticed that the network adapter on every PC used to connect to the router was disabled and network discovery and sharing was turned off.

Three PC's via direct network cable and two laptops connected via wifi.

I re enabled all adapters and it all seems to be working again.

Is this something I should be worried about, is it possible that someone has breached my home network?

Thanks for the help.

It seems to be working now.

I originally thought the switch may be the problem, but the part I don't get is how each of the network adapters in each computer were disabled.

I had to go and enable each adapter individually.

oh I see you meant actually disabled within windows, that certainly is very odd

not sure why an attacker would do that? surely that would prevent them accessing your pc...

maybe do a quick scan with malwarebytes, though doubt anything will be there

That's what I thought.

Once I got every thing up and running again, I did a full system scan with Avast, which turned up nothing.

I then ran a scan with malwarebytes, which was also negative.

Thanks the the help though.

I've seen malware do that, as well as changing DNS settings and setting up local proxies to redirect.

Scan baby scan!

Will do thanks.

Make sure you log into your router and see if anybody else is using your wifi just to be on the safe side.

Will look into it thanks.
