Elon Musk has announced a new step forward in the Hyperloop project. Speaking onstage at the Texas Transportation forum, Musk announced the development of a test facility for the innovative air-rail system, including a five-mile track. A location has yet to be confirmed, but Musk said it would be "most likely in Texas." It's unclear when Musk's test facility would open, but when it does, it will be the first physical incarnation of 
the idea he unveiled 18 months ago.

 

 

For those of you who don't know what Hyperloop is, in short: It's a new form of transportation Musk has come up with that places a type of car in a tube filled with air (although with lower pressurization than outside air) that is launched by magnets with speeds in access of around 750-800 MPH. I'm starting to think he's on the verge of revealing the time machine he traveled trough. There's no way he's not from the future.

Well shit I'm now in a better mood upon hearing this.

 

Self sustained high speed transport... that even collects surplus energy!

I wonder how much this thing is going to cost per

meter of hyperloop.. 

 

Elon musk, bringing us the future, today! i foresee

great possibilities for this, just need to have a closer

look at the cost/efficiency/capacity and acceleration.

That will come. It's still in a very early testing phase.
