Try them out first if you can. All 3 are quite quiet.

If you get one before trying and you don't like it:

you're gonna have a bad time.

ok what do browns feel like

Umm...

Quoted from Wikipedia:

"Light, tactile, non-clicky. Compared to other tactile Cherry switches, such as the Blue and Clear, the tactile point is much less pronounced. It feels mostly like a linear switch if pressed hard. It is easier to feel the tactile point if the key is pressed lightly."

http://deskthority.net/wiki/Cherry_MX_Brown

It feels like a mechanical rubber dome--except without the rubber dome ickiness?

You can't really convey a feeling with words.  You really need to try them out for yourself.  What feels nice to one of us might not feel good to you.

If your point of reference is laptop keyboards, you will have a complete different feel with blacks and reds as they don't have the *thud* when you hit the keys.

the *thud* being because the key travels and hit the caps if it were, so basically red and blacks feels like a free plunge as you click.

I know that sounds silly, and when it comes right down to it - trying it out first hand will always be better, but if you really have to listen to words hope mine helps.

Check out the build: Used to be Obot, now Lilith

Personally, I like black switches, they're very smooth, it's a good feeling.

I use a Mionix Zibal which I would NOT recommend buying as I had to RMA the first on because the backlighting failed within a few months and the replacement has failed in the exact same way.

@chimmychunger,

www.wasdkeyboards.com

Buy the $25 (with shipping) pack and try out each one.

It's worth the initial investment. Trust me. :P

Can't remember who said it, but a good way to visualize the difference in sound: MX Blue has the clicking sound of a pen, while MX Browns have a more subtle sound of a mechanical pencil. Almost feels like the same force needed to actuate (although the MX keys were effortless).

I got Brown switches as my first keyboard and these keys give me the tactile feel of Blues without the clicky sound and it produces sort of a dull sound rather than a sharp sound when actuated.
