I'm willing to put money down that this board will never recommend AMD. "If you need a CPU with lots of cores for media creation, then you should go for an i7. It leads down the best path."

Its hard to recommend things that are not as good though

Me and my two brothers are running FX-6300s. They're both running R9 270xs, and I still have a poor 6870. Neither of them have ever hit a bottleneck in any of their games, and I do a lot of video editing (as you can see) so the cores benefit me, and I got my motherboard and CPU for under $200 with a combo deal. I WILL recommend AMD.

You wont hit a bottleneck using a 270x you will using high end GPUs though!

and sure the fx6300 is ok in video editing, but i5s actually perform better in photoshop premier and lighroom etc, and cost a similar amount while performing better in games

I just go on benchmarks and tests, if the AMD chips were better I would be recommending them, I have no preference, just stating facts

for GPUs AMD still have some awesome products the 270x, 280x etc, until the 960 comes (if its well priced) are very amazing value

My biggest problem is that a lot of people, when they wish to build a PC, immediately get thrown into the case of "Well if you spend $300 more.." I'm not saying you have to spend double on AMD's prices for comparable Intel, so much as.. People don't consider that if someone is building a $600 gaming rig, they don't need the expandability later to go to a $300 chip. You can build a rig for $600 that has a 270x and an FX-6300. You'd never be bottlenecked on that card or CPU, like you said. Yet everybody goes to Intel because of the upgradeability, and how it's marginally better for gaming with GPUs of that level. Which in most cases is not. For $150 now you can get an FX-6300 (from Micro Center, at least) and a good motherboard for it. You'd spend $50~ more for an Intel chip and board of the same performance when paired with a 270x. Budgets is where AMD scores a home-run.

If AMD actually released CPUs that were way better and outperformed Intel by a mile, then I would recommend AMD, but they haven't released ANY new CPUs for a long while and their current ones are as slow as snails, compared to Intel ;). The only thing they're good for is a heater :P.

I don't recommend it for upgradability, I recommend it becuase they DONT have to upgrade their CPU when they can afford a better GPU

an i5 will handle a 270x and a GTX 980, instead of having to replace the fx6300 when you come to upgrade the rig 6-12 months later

yes if somebody only has $600 for a PC then the fx6300 MIGHT be a good recommendation, but so is the i3, which can perform better in certain circumstances too, 90% of programs prefer stronger cores, than more cores

My mom is going to be building a rig to play a few games. Borderlands 2, League of Legends, and some Valve games. She will not be playing anything else on this rig. Why does she need to spend more for the option to buy a $350 GPU in 6 months, if she's never going to? She maybe be only one case, but she's a grand one, since she's on a budget.
