2x GTX 970 SLI or 1x GTX980?

It depends, If you think about pure performance, 970x2 are better,
But if you think about expansion, one 980 is better since that way you will be able to add another one later.

yeah probably 980 beacuse not all games scale well in sli which means it really won't get much more fps in games if you're into gaming of course

I would recommend getting a single card. because of the scaling problems in some games. But If I was you I would go for 1x GTX980
