I've got a build that I'm planning out and I have a few parts already, but I don't know how big of a power supply I will need. Here's the build:

i7 4790K

2x970s SLI

ASUS Maximus VII Hero

16GB Corsair Vengeance Pro 1866 RAM

1TB WD HDD

500GB Samsung 840 Evo

Thanks for the help! :D

I was looking at that 750w G2 by EVGA as well, but it doesn't seem like it will provide enough power for 2 970s... Are you guys sure?

it does support dual GPUs the 970 don't need a lot of power like the older GTX780s

You could probably get away with a 650W PSU, but it'd be better to have a little more headroom like a 750W. EVGA makes nice power supplies.

Okay... With the 750w one would there be any room for over clocking?

sure plenty

if you still find it iffy you can look up the power draw of the GTX970

i7 with dual GTX980 can run fine on a 850 watt PSU

I would recommend the EVGA 750 G2 like everyone else here has, I've heard it's a superb power supply and should handle your system fine.

What about the 850w G2 version? Would 850 watts be overkill or just a bunch of headroom?

don't know if this will help... I run a 5960x, and a 980. at idle it draws less than 80w from the wall, and about 60w from the psu (corsair's reporting software) running my max overclock (a bit over 5ghz, and 1.4ghz respectively) I'm drawing under 500W from the wall.

The 9 series cards are crazy efficient, even under conservative overclocks. If you're planning on sticking a couple of waterblocks on your graphics cards and seeing how far you can go, then the 850W might be for you. If not the 750W will be just fine
