Is this cpu good for gaming? I checked on the ark site of intel, see here; http://ark.intel.com/products/63698/Intel-Core-i7-3820-Processor-10M-Cache-up-to-3_80-GHz

It does have 40 Lanes which means that it supports more than 1 Graphics card with x16 PCİ lanes, what kind of bugged me though was under the ''Expansion Options'' specifications, it said PCİ Express Revision 2.0. Does this mean that this cpu does not support PCİ 3.0 ?

YOu are correct in that the 3820 does not support PCIe 3.0. However not even PCIe 2.0 8x is a bottleneck so you re fine

This is why you should not get an FX CPU for ANY scenario other than rendering on a budget http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/286142-fx-8350-r9-290-psu-requirements/?p=3892901 http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/266481-an-issue-with-people-bashing-the-fx-cpus/?p=3620861

well i got a EVGA GTX980 SC ACX 2.0 graphics card, would this mean that i couldnt benefit from the graphics card a 100%? And would this change if i'd upgrade to a i7 4930k?

you will only need to get the 4930K unless you want to run multiple GPUs like 3 way or 4 way GPUs

PCI-E 2.0 16x will not bottleneck the GTX980

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

I want to run a 2way sli config with my gtx980's. So what should i do? And does the 4930k support;

1. PCİ 3.0 ?

2. Does it support a PCİ 3.0 Express configuration of 2x16 ?

3. Does it support 8 memory sticks/dimms?

What i am asking here is, would the 4930K be the minimum to benefit a 100% from my hardware?

My build;

MOBO: Asus P9x79 Pro

Graphics Card: 2 x EVGA GTX980 SC ACX 2.0

Memory: 8 x 4GB Corsair vengeance 1600mhz Ram

yes the 4930K supports 3.0

you just need to do a BIOS update to your mobo

and yes both will run full 16x speeds

no, look at the i7-4820K.

you don't need the extra 2 cores the 4930K provides when it comes to gaming...and it will be a lot cheaper.

319$ not bad at all for this CPU:

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/intel-cpu-bx80633i74820k

This one performs the same as the i7-3770K but provides 40 pcie 3.0 lanes and quad-channel memory support.

4 cores 8 threads...it's all you need when it comes to gaming.
