freesync external modules, does anybody know anything?

Go to solution Solved by Glenwing,

Hmm I was afraid that might have been the case. How does nvidia do it then though? Don't they offer external boxes?

They replaced the display's internals with a G-SYNC module, which contains a proprietary controller chip. There are no external G-SYNC boxes, only G-SYNC module upgrade kits for very specific monitors and are no longer available if I remember correctly. That came and went.

Hey guys!

I was wondering, has anyone heard any rumors of external freesync modules/adapters being developed? Is it even possible? I'd kind of like to get my hands on one if it were possible and affordable. Thanks for any input!

It's not quite possible. Freesync depends on the hardware inside of the monitor.

The display scaler (main controller) would need to be bypassed. This is not possible unless the monitor is specifically designed for it, which would be more expensive than just implementing FreeSync in the first place.
