Hello all,

I would like advice on this build that I'm saving up for with birthday money and Christmas money. (My birthday is soon!) So I just want to get advice on this build, thanks! Notes: I have a hard drive (pata) and I have windows already. Thanks for all comments! Woops, sorry forgot the list:

You should get a 120/128gb SSD instead, They are only a couple bucks more expencive.
Otherwise it looks good to me.

I'd recommend a z97 motherboard instead of the H81. and a bigger SSD.

Z97 for future upgrades if you want more CPU oomph

I'm gonna get a nicer board in the future anyway. Will the i5 4440 perform as well as the 4690k? I just put together a build that is cheaper, without the ssd.. Would that be good and just upgrade to the ssd later? Is that possible? I mean, I would rather sacrifice getting an ssd now and get it later so that I dont have to get say a better CPU later, I would be totally fine with that.

You'd have to reinstall the OS to the SSD to be worth the upgrade, which is what I did. I think it's honestly just better to wait and save up a bit more, instead of wasting money on the cheaper parts.

A 4440 might be acceptable for gaming, but when you will always see a difference when playing games that are CPU heavy like BF4 and what not.

Well with windows you can reinstall it as many times as I need to on the same computer right? I don't quite understand what you mean by cheap parts.. This PC is not cheap at all in my eyes

Well, lower priced parts then. A 4440 is no slouch, but a 4690k would be better in my opinion. And you can reinstall windows as much as you want, it just can only be active on any 1 computer at a time etc. The SSD with the OS on it does make a massive difference.

It's not cheap, but I think a z97 motherboard and 4690k is a better place to start, I wish I'd been patient and saved longer and not gotten my FM2 motherboard and AMD APU. Complete waste of money because I ended up upgrading anyways, but that's another story. If you plan to upgrade your mobo and CPU anyways, why not just wait a bit longer? Unless you need the PC for work and need it right now etc.

It's really all up to you, that CPU and gpu is probably be fine for most games, but it might be a "bottleneck" for others. What do you plan on doing with it?

(that GPU is more than good enough)

Well I really need it sooner than later (like within the next month or so), I am a graphic designer and use Photoshop and am currently working with an A6 apu (which takes larger files a little longer than i would like)laptop at the moment. I also want to play games at more than 20 fps low settings.. I might be able to swing with a z97 board. I also want to get into 3D modeling, which this CPU will handle very well.

I would at least go with a z97 board to make it easier for you to transition in the future later. Other than that, a bigger SSD would be nice.

I would also recommend and after market cooling solution. Stock is well.....stock.

If I didn't have the z97 board in there, I probably would be more willing to get an aftermarket cooling solution.. But I can probably most likely get one in the near future.

I would say that should be your first upgrade, an aftermarket cooling solution.
