Evening. My name is Orion and I finally decided to come around and post on the forums after.. what, a year of watching Linus' stuff.

You guys seem pretty helpful, and I tried to do my best reading between the Air Cooling Forums and the Water Cooling Forums to try and educate me on those two methods of cooling.

Alright so here's the situation.

8320 is running at 55-60 C under heavy load, which I tend to have it a lot at. I just upgraded from a 4-core, so I do understand that this thing will put out more heat. That being said, it seems like that's not actually hot in the first place-- more people here have gotten hilariously hot results.

However, whatever the reasons are I'm  very uncomfortable with this amount of heat. It boils my room, and knowing my beloved Ms. Compy is running that hot just makes me uncomfy.

Deciding now between the 212 EVO, it's Energmax Equivalent (I can get it at Frys like right now), and the H50/55 AIO Watercooling products from Corsair. I'm a poor college dude, and I'm picking my pennies on this one.

I glanced at the Watercooling board and the FAQ thread said that aircooling is better than water cooling until the upper levels, like custom loops and things like that. I thought it was the other way around.

Either way, I know you folks have answered this countless times, but I thank anyone who takes the time to write something up.

Another thing-- I care nothing for a quiet computer. I don't want the thing sounding like a lawn mower, but I usually have headphones on so I can stand probably more noise than your average enthusiast person.

Thanks,

Orion

I would get the Hyper 212 Evo simply because it will probably perform the same as the H55 and it's cheaper

i5 4670k| Asrock H81M-ITX| EVGA Nex 650g| WD Black 500Gb| H100 with SP120s| ASUS Matrix 7970 Platinum (just sold)| Patriot Venom 1600Mhz 8Gb| Bitfenix Prodigy. Build log in progress

I have used the Antec Equivalent to the H55 and several 212 Evo's. The performance is similar so personally I would buy the 212 Evo. I was able to get my FX-8350 to stay below 60C at 4.8 GHz gaming with it. Also, internet high five for being a college person, too.

I am addicted to building gaming PCs but I don't have a great reason to stop...yet...
