So, I just got a new TV plugged into HDMI. Derping around in the CCC, I found this.

Is this artificial 12 bit, or am I understanding this wrong, because I thought 10 bit panels were fucking fantastic, and 8 bit panels were more consumer-grade.

 

EDIT: Also, what does the image upscaling thing do?

The GPU upscaling is handy for say.. eg: 3Dmark Performance run being under 1080p (720p/768p) or other programs/games and would show those non-scaled bars surrounding the image, this would scale it to fullscreen.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Any additional performance impact, and does it actually help it look better? And what about the bit part?

Hi,

 

Scaling is a non-trivial process that involves a trade-off between efficiency, smoothness and sharpness. Image scaling is the process of resizing a digital image.  

 

With the bitmap graphics, the size of an image is reduced or enlarged, the pixels that form the image become increasingly visible, making the image appear "soft" if pixels are averaged, or jagged if not.
