What exactly si the ASIC quality feature doing in GPU-Z? I assume it reads a value from the card set by the manufacturer that shows the quality of the chip used but why are none of them near 100% quality? i see screenshots online and they are all around 70-75%.

I found a post online and this guy seems to be the most informed about this feature that I've seen so far: http://forums.pureoverclock.com/graphics-cards/18837-gpu-z-asic-quality.html

It is "supposed" to be a measure of how good of a chip you have, but it is not exact.

There are some ASIC quality threads on OCN where everyone with a specific card can compare their ASIC qualities.

My personal story with ASIC Score:

I had an EVGA GTX 780 SC.  It had the lowest ever recorded ASIC score submitted to the 780 ASIC Score thread on OCN.  The score for this card was a measly 63.1%.  This card was awful.  It refused to overclock.  Anything above +50Mhz on the core was not stable, even if I added voltage.  If I added anything to the memory, it would artifact badly.  After about 6 months the card just died one day while playing BF4.  Thankfully EVGA is the best in the business when it comes to customer service and RMAs, I had a new card in less than 10 days and this new card that is in my machine right now has an ASIC score of 73.1% and does +100Mhz on the Core and +250Mhz Memory without adding any voltage.

So generally its ok in terms of accuracy?

I had a look at it and just form the first page alone nobody really seems to know how this value works.

Its not perfect, its a guess.

There are people on OCN with low ASIC scores doing incredible GPU overclocks, there are also people with high ASIC scores getting bad OCs.  So its not anywhere close to perfect.

As long as you can overclock well, then you should be happy, because results are what matters.
