AMD and surviving the CPU world

Do you think that AMD would have a better chance at becoming king once again if Qualcomm bought them? Qualcomm is really Intels only competition at this time in the CPU market, so if they bought AMD and started doing desktop CPU's there could be a fighitng chance.

AMD is pretty much putting everything on APU's and zen.

 

If zen fails then intel dominates the "normal" CPU market

i wouldn't say intel is king it really depends on what u are talking about because AMD have some great APUs and they are getting used in the consoles

AMD makes great APU's but their standard processors are very unimpressive (massive power requirements and temps). Intel is starting to make Integrated a bigger deal. If they succeed, AMD is dead.

who will dominate in the next 5 years will be determined more by the software. AMD are putting 50/50 into Arm and x86, and trying to predict the landscape before it unfolds. Even Intel have shifted gears this year. and Nvidia are already sitting pretty.

 

I hate to say it, but 2015-2020 is going to be a battle royale, but not for high end PC's. AMD will not survive the tech industry by focusing on the enthusiast market, but neither will Intel. Intel just happens to have the resources to keep pumping out enthusiast level parts, but its not the primary focus of the industry in the least.

Well i mean it makes sense if you dont have the money for the performance you cant buy it, so you need less the price than performance

You guys aren't really looking at my question. I was wondering if they would have a better chance if Qualcomm bought them and helped with their revamp of desktop CPUs. Qualcomm has the assets to do so, and there have been talks of them purchasing AMD before.
