I just got a new pc for a week with the following spec

CPU : i5 3570k

Case: Z11 plus

Cooler: 212 evo

Ram: single 8gb ballistix sport stick

MOBO: asus p8z77 v

GPU: msi gtx 660

PSU: 750w

Everything runs fine, but after a long period of use (video streaming, gaming, web browsing) usually around evening-night (i switch it on around noon) the pc can randomly have performance drop where programs will load slowly, web page load extremely slow. Like opening chrome, new chrome tab, internet explorer, CPU-Z, spotify etc usually take less than 1-2 seconds now take 10-15seconds of load time. Whenever this happens, the cpu usage, ram usage, swap usage, network usage remained the same compared to normal situation (0-3% cpu , 20% ram usage, 15% swap usage ) . Whenever this happens i usually just restart my pc, and everything becomes normal again, load/open programs at good speed again.

Temperature is normal too, 33-37celsius cpu , slightly lower for the gpu. I run both cpu and gpu at stock speed, no OC done.

So I'm not sure whats going on with the sudden drop of performance here :x

i only have a 1tb HDD, and the performance drop always happen when im using my pc e.g in middle of watching twitch livestream , alt tab browsing on chrome while gaming, browsing 3-5tabs of linustechtip forum (lol) and etc. Everytime i notice the performance drop is when the "newtab" of chrome took 15 second to load instead of 0.5sec

And the slowness seemed to affect the loading time of every program but doesnt affect in game performance of games like BF3 and heroes of newerth. I'm still having good fps for them. Its just that everything take ages to load or open.

Last time you defragged it?

hmm, do you experience this lag with just chrome? also I have the same problem with loading tabs, that's just cause my internet sucks(lol). Are all the problems with slowdown programs that are using internet? perhaps that could be your problem.

edit: Oops, misread your post, disregard this.
edit:2 btw How do I delete a post?

I never defragged my HDD before, this problem happens the first day i got my pc, happens approximately once a day. As for the programs that got affected I tested chrome, internet explorer, MSI afterburner, CPUZ, opening folder that usually take less than a second become 10+ seconds

any help :D?

I'd analyse the hard drive for fragmentation, if it doesn't need doing I wouldn't bother.

Not really sure what to say, diagnosing problems blows lol

EDIT: Has this computer been doing this since you bought it or has it just started playing up?

I'm really noob for pc stuff, i went on to google on how to defrag and after analyzing my HDD , it shows 2% of fragmentation only :x

At 2% I wouldn't defrag it.

How long has this problem been present?

ever since the very first day i got my pc. Happen once a day (approx) , can be fixed by restarting pc.

My ram was a single stick 8gb , 1600, but i put it in dimm B2 slot , furthest away from the cpu cooler , will it be a problem?

No, a single stick you can populate any slot but if you had two then you would do this 'populate > miss a slot > populate > miss a slot' so you can utilise dual channel, I hope that makes sense but I can't think what is happening to your system, if it was mine I'd probably just reinstall it because in my experiences with things going wrong and I can't for the life of me figure out and no one else knows, reinstalling seems to fix it lol

To be honest I'm out of ideas, I don't think it's a hardware issue but then again and no expert, I would say that you try Memtest86 but I don't think it's anything to do with the RAM.

Well I'm out of ideas lol

Use a more in-depth defragging program. The default program is not very good.

The defragging program I use is Auslogics Disk Defrag, I've used it for a while and seems pretty good.

The problem occurs even if the default program indicates my HDD has 0% fragmentation. (defragged earlier today using default program)

also this problem only affect the loading time of program , new tab etc, once you open it/load it, everything if fine as normal.

Example, browsing facebook is quick as normal, but once you click a link that brings you out of facebook such as youtube or imgur, it will take 10 second to load, but once you reach youtube or imgur , everything is normal, quick browse etc.

Opening programs like BF3 is taking long loading time, but once you reach inside the game, everything is normal. normal fps , cpu load, gpu load.

Is the hard drive fine, if it's loading time being affected I'd check the drive with CrystalDiskInfo

EDIT: Scratch that, I didn't realise it's problematic online, I though it was the installed programs being slow on loading up
