Is it your ram? You said that you have a single 8GB stick and that it's in the farthest right spot. I would move the stick to the second slot from the left, and then see if you have the problems. That slot is usually the default slot that you put the dimms in first. If not, try getting a 2x4GB kit? I don't really know what to tell you :/

Yes, perfectly normal I think it's called 'Intel SpeedStep' or a newer version of it.

using AVG scanner , found 172 registry error , loads of junk files location at locations like app/XXXXXX/temp file. Fixed them, I'll see if theres still any performance problem with loading.

I think the same drive came in my Dell system. It's quite a slow drive and sometimes has issues. Go to taskmanager->performance->resource monitor and go to the disk tab

update, after cleaning the registry errors etc, and uninstalling avast, the performance dip hasn't occur today yet (first time since i got the pc :D). I'll see if it will happen again in the next few days.

If so that is weird, I've used Avast for years on hardware not as powerful as you have without any issues.

The only time i get poor performance is when my computer is booting from cold start. I have a 1tb WD green, as a main HDD and once everything is all warmed up my computer is fine.

What is this warm up time you speak of? I run an SSD.

i meant once the system is 'been running for a few minutes' it should be fine.

Having a WD Green drive has the main drive is not wise, those drives aren't optimised for an OS which is why they're slow.

 

You should have bought at least a WD Blue (or equivilent) and had the Green as a storage drive.

ignore everything about avast and avg , finally found the real trigger for my problem. From time to time after long period of usage, I will notice my "num lock" indicator LED is switched off even I have never press the num lock button before. Even if the indicator light is off , the numb pad still works and I can use it without problem.

 

To fix this problem I always went to press the num lock manually, pressing it twice to bring back the LED light. Immediately after pressing twice to bring back the LED light , the pc went weird. Not sure what happens , but as long as i ignore the lack of num lock indicator LED and deal with it , my pc is fine.
