WATER DAMAGE HELP

i have a htc one m8 and it got the tiniest bit wet when i was out cus it rained (no change for the UK) i got home and tried top charge phone and a hissing noise came from the charger port and now (a day after) it charges but the end of the wire get very hot and i can smell something weird from the port itself what can i do

You should have submerged it in white rice. You may be able to still put in in a bag of rice or heater though. Then I would recommend grabbing a new charger just to be safe.

Open everything up and put it somewhere warm like on a radiator and let it sit there for two days, maybe lay it in rice if you just have 1 day

Is it under warrenty if so

"smartphones have water indicators inside (white paper with red crosses on them). If you phone was not soaked completely there is a little chance that you will be ok and HTC will repair your phone on warranty, but the indicators are mostly attached to places where water could come in first

In the worst case they will tell you that there was water inside and you have to pay for the repair. But they will definitely do this before they start doing something "
