4770k + 290 temps

The rig in my sig, 4770k @ 4.4 + R9 290 on CM 240l + UT60 280 rad, just wondering what good game load temps should be. Obviously, I can get them lower, my SP 12's on the 240l rad are sub 800 RPM, and the Noctua fans on my UT60 are sub 800 as well, with a pump RPM of about 2800 under game load. I was playing Tomb Raider earlier and my CPU was low to mid 50's and my GPU (not even OCed) was up around 56-58c. This sound decent? I am trying to keep the rig pretty frikin quiet, so yea I could turn fans up, but don't really want too, and obviously these temps are not hot by any means, just wondering on people opinions...

 

TLDR; 4770k @ 4.4 + R9 290 run in the 50's under Tomb Raider... good, or just not bad?

Yea that is good IMO. My non OCed 3570k on a 280MM H110 with Noctuas running at 5v gets mid 50's and my 780 ti on an 240 AIO goes to about 45C with the fans also at 5V. GPU may be warmer but you got my cpu temps beat. I assume that your the GPU temps are higher as the water in your loop is transferring more energy around where mine is separate. That and its a 290

 

I know its AIO cooling but it gives you decent look at what your connected loop is comparable too.

if your voltage on the overclock wasn't substantial, then yeah, your temps are fine.

only when you get into cranking on the voltages on the CPU and GPU you'll find

the weak link in the system.

Yea my CPU volts are something like 1.33 under Aida64, so under game its probably something like 1.3.

then you are aces with sub 1000 rpm fans if they are to your audible liking.

Yea, its pretty quiet even under game load. If I turn speakers off I can hear it, but not during actual game play. And I absolutely can't believe how dead silent it is at idle. Literally, I can't hear it. All fans are sub 700 at idle and pump is like 1950 rpm. Actually, all fans are 600 except my SP120's are the performance type, so the lowest I can get them is 690 rpm, still can't really hear them

Yea, its winter though, but it wasn't like a cold day. I was gaming in a T-shirt... Gata love California weather. It was probably around 65f ambient. Maybe my room started to heat up a bit because of the PC. 

 

But yea, fans were at about 800 if I remember correctly. The temp prob in the fins of my rad got to 39c, and yea pretty sure all fans were just under 800 rpm

Can anyone comment on these temps @ these settings? I feel like its a respectable, although not great overclock with decent temps. Sure, temps could be lower, but look at dem fan speeds!

 

Also, T sensor 3 is a thermistor in the fins of my front rad, and the CPU fan RPM is my pump.

Also, 1160 is where artifacts started, 1150 was fine, at least for a few seconds, so I backed it off to 1130 and am working on RAM.

one thing TTL mentioned on the R9-series was to reduce the memory clock if

jacking the core clock. retest on Valley. unlike CPU there should be a VCCIO

on the VRAM (but not present) to make the VRAM a bit more stable.

Yea, I wasn't actually able to get any RAM OC out of it... at all. 

 

So you are suggesting back the RAM off and go below stock speeds to try and make GPU core headroom?

What is VCCIO?

 

yes, allow the memory to be slower and punch up the GPU core freq.

 

 

VCCIO is the Memory Controller Voltage and helps stabilize when overclocking RAM or when overclocking multiple components (CPU, GPU, BLCK etc)

VCCSA is System Agent Voltage, and stabilizes or helps overclock BLCK.

VCCIO and VCCSA share some paths in the CPU and need to be raised in tandem and shouldn't be more than a few notches apart for best stability.
