What's the best antivirus software out there. Currently I'm running Vipre's software.

Windows Defender.  (Security essentials)

Why Avast for ad-blocking? Just use Opera or Ad Blocker...

I suggest not using AVAST with Windows 8 because I notice there are people who had their pc hang or frozen when using AVAST. And of course I had, too.

But you have to install some random software to get the same (Or wose) functionality that a plugin provides. 

And Anti-Viruses slow down your computer.

Using Kaspersky in all my 3 machines and had no problems so far.

I dont like Malwarebytes, doesnt find viruses that Hitman Pro does.

Most free antivirus's I have used have been annoying. avg ,avast and avria . I also didn't like norten (have not tried it in a long time ) That seemed to use a insane amount of cpu power. Now I use windows defender.
