Hello, im new to this forum but I decided to ask you veterans for some help. I need a new headset, my current one is a shitty Creative Fatal1ty one that i got for christmas and its just not doing it for me. I like playing games like CS:GO and listen to EDM in my free time. So here is my question; should I go for the HyperX Cloud gaming headset or for a pair of ATH-m50s plus a microphone, and if the latter, what microphone? I should also mention that im on a quite tight budget.

EDIT: Thanks for the feedback, I have now decided to go for the cloud, except there are multiple versions.

HyperX Cloud

HyperX Cloud 2

Qpad Q-90 (basically the cloud1 minus some looks and accesories at a much lower price)

Which one should i go for?

HyperX clouds. I have them and love them. Very comfortable, great for a long game of CS:GO s and d  ;) And the mic... far better than a ton of other headsets on the market. Not as good as some stand alone mics like the yeti but still great. Sound quality is also very good. And expecially for the price you are paying there isn't really anything else that will be better.

First of all welcome, don't forget to follow your topics with the button in the top right corner.

The HyperX Cloud and Audotechnica headphone are quite a different price range (100$ and 150$)

You would also have to get a mic with the M50's, so that would make it even more expensive..

What kind of mic did you want and how professional does it have to be?

A modmic could be fine, but if you go for a Blue Snowball (65-ish dollars) you are good for a long time

TL;DR: for your situation, you should just go for the HyperX Cloud (or wait for the Cloud 2)

Yea you could wait for the HyperX Cloud 2 which seems like it will be like $130? Idk, it may be slightly higher or lower than that price. But, it seems like you would be able to afford it with you being able to get the ATH-M50. If not, just get the HyperX Cloud 1, which is what I have, as it is extremely comfortable, great sound for a gaming headset, and the best microphone on a gaming headset for it's price point. (<$100) The new Cloud will have a slightly better microphone, virtual 7.1 surround sound card which won't make a difference since we have only two ears, and even better cushions with memory foam. (According to Luke's overview at CES 2015)
