only thing missing is a SSD, for gaming though most people will advise to get an I5 over the 8350.

this try look into getting SSD and preferably an i5 or i7 as they are much better gaming CPUs

SSD for OS and main programs/games

you don't feel it when you use it but going on a PC that doesn't feels so slow. it's rather annoying lol.

Yeah Adata, crucial MX100, samsung 840/850 evo are probably all the best drives for the money

the SSD makes everything faster, you install your programs and games on it and it makes everthing like 20x faster than a hard drive - use  the hard drive for storing data

Switch the HD with this for better performance in your day-to-day responsiveness:  http://au.pcpartpicker.com/part/crucial-internal-hard-drive-ct256mx100ssd1 $77 more total.

If your budget is tight, stay with the mechanical drive.  Upgrade to an SSD at a later date.  The SSD won't improve in game FPS much at all.

Oh, and those Corsair fans are definitely not worth $20 each.

yep that ssd is good. as they said earlier adata, crucial and samsung evo 840/850 are the best bang for the buck ssd. and i'd recommend go get a 250gb for the games that you are mostly playing and os. and i'd recommend if your aim is only for gaming go for the i5 4690k maybe. and i think you're psu is a little bit overkill but unless your're planning to go sli in the future then its fine.

Spoiler

So here is my partlist for the gaming pc I am hoping to start buying parts for in about 2-3 weeks. What are your thoughts?

http://au.pcpartpicker.com/user/pyropanda1/saved/xYKhP6

Type|Item|Price
:----|:----|:----
**CPU** | [AMD FX-8350 4.0GHz 8-Core Processor](http://au.pcpartpicker.com/part/amd-cpu-fd8350frhkbox) | $219.00 @ CPL Online
**CPU Cooler** | [NZXT Kraken X31 69.5 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler](http://au.pcpartpicker.com/part/nzxt-cpu-cooler-rlkrx3101) | $89.00 @ CPL Online
MUCH BETTER OFF WITH A 240/280MM RAD
**Motherboard** | [MSI 970 GAMING ATX AM3+ Motherboard](http://au.pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-motherboard-970gaming) | $129.00 @ CPL Online
I WOULD NOT TRUST THIS BOARD TO POWER AN OVERCLOCKED 8350. MSI HAS TERRIBLE POWER DELIVERY ACROSS THE BOARD
**Memory** | [Kingston Fury Black Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory](http://au.pcpartpicker.com/part/kingston-memory-hx318c10fbk28) | $104.00 @ CPL Online
NEVER USE KINGSTON RAM WITH AMD
**Storage** | [Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive](http://au.pcpartpicker.com/part/western-digital-internal-hard-drive-wd10ezex) | $62.00 @ Centre Com
**Video Card** | [MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB Twin Frozr V Video Card](http://au.pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-video-card-gtx970gaming4g) | $519.00 @ CPL Online
**Case** | [NZXT H440 (Black/Red) ATX Mid Tower Case](http://au.pcpartpicker.com/part/nzxt-case-cah440wm1) | $158.00 @ CPL Online

YOU DONT NEED 750W. GET A SEASONIC G-650 (SSR) FOR THE SAME PRICE. IT'S GOLD RATED.
**Case Fan** | [Corsair Air Series AF120 Quiet Edition 39.9 CFM 120mm  Fan](http://au.pcpartpicker.com/part/corsair-case-fan-co9050001ww) | $19.00 @ CPL Online

Honestly, you can do SO much better for $1400 if you budget right.

Intel Inside. Overweight guy in his 30's outside.
