My uncle has a spare PC thats running windows XP with 3gb ram and i want to put my 5570 in it to turn into a media pc. The problem is i don't know if older motherboards even have a slot to put a sorta modern GPU into it. I don't know exactly how old it is but i know its still using ribbon cables. So if anyone knows if i could put a 5570 into it that would be helpful.

PCI Express is from 2004 so that does fit a lot of XP era machines. Just have to look at the board and see if it has both slots

if its a PCI based board then your set. If its AGP though your boned :P just take a look at the slots, Youll know in a matter of seconds whether its going to fit. Just remember to account psu requirements.

The psu was replaced in it to a modern 460w psu. also thank you for telling me about AGP because i think theres a big chance thats what the board has.

Yeah AGP has fallen from a lot of peoples memory at this point or they are to young to know about it in the first place. If it wasnt for the fact my dads been a computer tech all my life i wouldnt know about AGP myself lol. Psu wise you should be solid by the sounds of it.

This image comparing PCIe x16 with AGP (both slots and cards) might help you:

It would be helpful if you could take a picture of the slot so we can identify it. Any other info about the PC would be useful (for example the CPU or motherboard chipset).
