Hey there guys, I'm sure this isn't the best forum to be posting this, but I would just like some help on this. I just got pneumothorax a few days ago, and had a tube stuck inside me to remove the air. Now, my right lung which was half its normal size a few days back, is now at 90% its normal size. However, I did not do enough to expand the lung so all the air would be removed. Can you guys suggest the best ways to expand it as fast as possible? If I can't do it by this saturday, I will have to have a minor operation. I would like to avoid this if possible, and only by expanding the lung enough I can avoid it. Please guys?

I would not be asking for medical advice on here.... A good majority of us are under the ago of 20, and there are more engineers than med students on here.

I have had 2 of these, the first one happened a few months ago and was bad, i had to have the chest drain put in for 5 days before they finally let me leave.. I waited a few days before going to the doctors and if i waited any longer my lung could have collapsed. A few weeks after i had another one but it was not as big and i didn't have to have the drain in again. I am not sure there is anything you can do to speed up the process and you should probably ask your doctor rather than posting on here. How did yours happen anyway? i got both of mine from being tall and thin.

p.s If i get another one i will have to have an operation too to stop them from happening which i am not fond of.

I also can't go on holiday for a year or go scuba diving ever.

Mine was due to being tall and thin too, dang it sucks! Can you go on roller coasters? Just asking as I may(or may not) be going to a theme park.

Should be able to.. When i was disharged they didnt say anythng about rollercoasters, just planes and scuba diving. Although i wouldnt do anything like going on rollercoasters or a lot of sport for a few weeks, my doctor told me it can take months for it to fully heal because they had to cut through so much tissue to get the tube in.
