Z3 Or M8

Hey Don't know which to buy my contract expires tomorrow and i am in need of an upgrade

I'm leaning more towards the one M8 only because I absolutely hate Sonys UI.

People keep telling me to just get CM on it and it will be fine but idk.

What do you guys think?

This is hard.... They're pretty much on par, only Z3 has A LOT better camera than M8, and is water proof...

 

If they're the same price, i'd personally go with Z3 (i am a little bit a Sony fanboy... Hell, i'm currently listening to their CES broadcast... ) Xperia UI is also pretty minimalistic

 

Objectively:

 

- If you don't mind the bad rear facing camera, like Sense UI, like HTC's build quality, then go with M8, you won't regret it

- If you want good camera, don't mind Xperia UI (you can always use a launcher if you don't want to root ), awesome build quality, and water proofness go with Z3

 

The only difference that i think matters is camera and water proofness The end choice is on you

Are you kidding get the z3 or z3 compact. Really premium phones.better battery life,better camera,dust/water proof...

And no dont put cm on either one you get.you lose many of the phones features

I have Sprint so I never got the chance to purchase a Sony Z-series phone (since Sprint doesn't carry them) but I got my M8 for $360 total and quite frankly, it's fantastic. Got it for a budget price but a flagship phone. It's absolutely great and I can't praise it enough. But I also heard great things about the Z-series so do some research and choose what's best fitting for you

M8 has noticeably better build quality when you hold it in the hand, and obviously better sound hardware (not just speakers, when using quality headphones you can also tell the M8 sounds better). The Sense software is up to you whether or not you like it personally. Some people are willing to take the learning curve, others really like stock Android and Sony's UI will be a lot better for them, as it's pretty much AOSP with a theme.

 

For pretty much everything else though, Z3 is better. Camera, battery life, waterproof, more RAM, etc

 

Personally I would go M8, but that's only because I use my phone without cases, and the M8 just feels so much better in the hand due to the round back, and I know if I drop it it will likely just dent the metal rather then shattering the screen (and possibly the back as well, in the case of the Z3) of my phone.

No, it doesn't have a better build quality. It's just made from a different material and way too many people don't realize that it really isn't anything special. It's not as if they managed to make the whole thing out of stainless steel or even Ti6AI4V. Or platinum. It's just the same old 6K series aluminium. The M8 doesn't feel any better in the hand than the ONE X. In fact, I prefer the look and feel of the ONE X.

 

And I would chose the Z3 Compact.

Putting CM on the Z3 is not that easy, you need to back up some files in order to use the camera and such. The M8 will be more robust than the Z3. Both have great speakers.
