Network drops every now and then

Hey

I have had my new pc for about a month.

I have the motherboard Maximus VII Ranger, using a TP-Link PA4010kit powerline for internet.

Every now and then, the network goes away, and is only fixed by restarting the pc. I heard about a similar issue, but where the powerline had to be replugged. I tried that, didn't work.

 

All motherboard drivers have been installed.

 

What can I do to avoid this? It is only this pc which drops, not anything else.

Powerlink will only work well when the wiring in the house is relatively new.

With old wiring there is a chance this might happen yeah, not sure if you can do anything about it, try using a different wall socket.

Pretty new house, pretty new wire.

 

I think this is a pc issue since it's only this one pc, and it is fixed with a reboot. I didn't have this problem when I used the powerline for my laptop.

I used to have a similar issue (not with powerline) but that magically fixed itself so I can't say what it was.

Now that I think about it, doing a static internal IP, could that be the problem? I needed to do it for some portforward thing.

hi to find your IP address.  press the windows key and R  type CMD   command promped should open.  then type  ipconfig.   you can see the ip addresses for your PC there.

 

I wouldnt have said it was an "ip " thing the fact that you have a static IP would not make you drop connection.

 

When connecting your laptop to the powerline do you use the same cable as pluged in to your PC?

Exact same cable, difference is only the port, one being on the laptop, one on the desktop of course.
