Hi there,

So yesterday I installed my Artic Accelero L2Plus on a 6870.
After testing the card with the new cooler, I discovered a new problem.
While watching 1080p youtube vids, and gaming there occurs lag. It is not playing smooth.
It does not matter if I set the setting to Low or High there is still a noticeable lag.

Is this because I accidently placed a included heatsink on the wrong chip? As far as I know, i placed 8 Heatsinks on the RAM and on the VR. I put the two remaining heatsinks on some other chips, the one with CHiL on it.

I hope you guys can help me.

What are your temps

Idle at 55 degrees celcius.

Did you clean off the old thermal paste and re-apply the one included on the main GPU die?

Yes I did, GPU main chip was shining, before I installed the cooler with pre-applied thermal paste.

Do you guy's think my psu 460w is not delivering enough power, because the new cooler demands more? (Don't think this is the case, but my old cooler was OEM Amd 6870 cooler)

Or have I placed a heatsink on a Chip that's making the ''lagg''?

Thanks for your answers!

Whats your room temperature 55 degrees at idle is quite high

Room temperature= 21 degrees

Temps are a bit high but it will not thermal throttle it, because of a 1080p youtube vid?

Very unlikely you cooled a chip so much it breaks.  And when I say unlikely, I mean not possible.

Do you have a cheap IR thermometer, or anything for that matter to check specific area temps?

Unfortunately, I do not own a IR thermometer.

Maybe a heatsink I placed is short circuiting? No  heatsinks are touching the PSB, maybe the heatsink I placed on the CHiL chip is causing the problem?

Short circuiting is simply closing a circuit not on the intended path.  That would kill the card immediately, not lag it.  What exactly are these heatsinks?  Was it recommended to cool that chip specifically?

The heatsinks are included with the cooler, supposed to cool the RAM and the voltage regulators (VR) I ended with two spare heatsinks( Insisted to work for more cards )and placed them random on some chips.

No it is not intended to be placed on that CHiL chip but will it harm?  I mean, chips produce heat.

Of your idee temps are 55 i can take in the possibilaty that it is actually thermal throtheling shomehow

My old stock OEM cooler was not thermal throtheling either, and that one  was playing games at 80 degrees
