So I've got a choice between two builds

An Intel build in a Bitfenix Prodigy with a 7870 XT (here)

or An AMD build in a Bitfenix Merc Beta with a 7970 (here)

^_^ In-case (see what I did there ;) ) you haven't noticed I like Bitfenix cases but I absolutely ADORE the Prodigy xD it is a bit over rated but I really like those handles :) but do you think the performance difference between the 7870 XT and the 7970 is worth the visual difference? (The difference between 3570k and 8320 are irrelevant I think? but I am a lil bit of an AMD fan boy )

If you can afford the hd 7970 then get it. It is a great card and will allow settings to be turned up in the future. But if you can overlclock the hd 7870 xt it will be in spitting distance of the hd 7970 ghz while saving money. Mind you that the hd 7970 can then overclock to beat it. Get what you can afford :)

Personally I would go with the AMD build just because of the extra power. But it all comes down to your personal preferance of case. And BTW the AMD list is set to privat.

My bad that's fixed now and hmmmm.... I'm not looking to upgrade again till the next consoles come (PS4 and Xbox two? lol) so will the 7970 last a significantly longer time in terms of future proofing or should I get the case that I want?

The hd 7970 ghz will be much more future proof and also costs a bit less than the intel one get it. Also for 'futureproofing' 8 cores are better than 4.

Have you looked at the Asus M4A88T-I Deluxe. It's an m-itx AM3+ board and that could fit in the Bitfenix Prodigy. And the 7970 is the most futureproof of the two, but I still have the opinion that futurproffing is a myth.

Edit: The Asus AM488T-I is not AM3+. I have made a mistake

If an OC'd 7870 XT is slightly below a 7970 then the future proofing would be approximately the same right?

The difference power between the 7870XT and 7970 would be notice able. Like a notch down on the settings kind of notice able (I believe).

I'd go with the Prodigy build though. Cases last forever (through multiple builds). I would rather get a case I know I will use for a looong time that I have to look at and the like, rather than have gaming power when I'm going to upgrade my GPU or something equivalent in 3-5 years, but still be using that case.

You got a b75 board for an unlocked processor. Either bump up to a z77 mobo or bump down to something like a 3470.

That still won't let you overclock. You need a z77 board.
