So I followed Linus' guide on overclocking the 4790k. I set the voltage to stock, which was 1.250v and set the multiplier to 44 just to see what would happen and it is running at 4.4GHz constantly but at 1.123v is this normal?

I hit 4.6Ghz at 1.123v, stress testing for a half an hour. It died after 11minutes. So stepped up to 1.150v and its rock solid.

Ill be added more to this as I go along.

If you set the voltage control to adaptive, then yes that's normal. But damn, you really got lucky with your CPU, 4.4 at 1.123

Yes it is normal, it won't go up to 1.250v unless it needs to. Did you set the voltage to manual or auto?

Manual if I remember correctly

Well guess what you won the silicon lottery!

These were the settings for the 4.4ghz at 1.123v I thought it was manual at 1.250 volts but its not lol

 - Just a small update, it seems to be running stable at 4.6Ghz at 1.123v.... again. I dont get this.

Stress testing 4.6Ghz at 1.123v seems to be doing good, at nothing higher the 74c on the cpu. I also found this chart which tells me I must have an insane cpu

Looks like you have a bad chip, if you're not stable even with 1.5v.

I am stable lol  I also messed that up, I meant 1.150v

OP isn't at 1.5V. Look at the images. Jeez. It says 1.150V.

Not sure yet, havent tried that, but judging what it is doing now, 4.8 shouldnt be hard to get. Maybe even 5?
