So here's my problem!  I have an external dual HDD dock station, which can be connected to both USB 2.0 and e-sata.   I have the Silicon Image Sil 3132 e-sata adapter card with port multiplier installed in one of my pci-e slots.   I'm running windows 8.1 pro(2500k @4.4, gtx 670SC 4gb, 16gb Corsair, HX850pro PSU, and several terabytes worth of HDD storage.  I have the proper latest drivers installed and all but for some reason it keeps on BSOD me.  The problem is intermittent but for the most part I get the infamous BSOD when I turn on the dock station.  I tried to install and uninstall drivers several times to no avail.  I also tried turning the dock station on before the computer, but it didn't work either.  The dock station works flawlessly if I use usb 2.0 but that's as slow as molasses.

Do you guys know what the problem might be?  and please don't say to go buy a usb 3.0 dock station.... I really want to use e-sata.

thanks!!!

Your adapter card probably just doesn't like your dock station. You can buy an eSATA bracket that goes into one of the PCIe slots and connects to an internal SATA port, that's the easiest way to do it.

but unfortunately with that method,  it will only detect one drive not both.  Also,  I've read somewhere that external e-sata are not compatible if plugged directly to the mobo's sata port.   The funny part is that sometimes my e-sata card works with no problem with my external dock,  I just don't get why for the most part is BSOD's my system.

Anyway, thanks for taking the time,  if there's anything else you can think of, let me know.
