The CPU is gonna bottleneck, I would personally take off the SSD and get an i5 then get an SSD later. It will be a lot better I'm the long run

I can't really explain bottlenecking so just trust me. It will be completely fine if that's what you want to use but an i5 would be much better for the 970

In my opinion I think the lack SSD would be a bigger problem, would recommend getting a i3 4150 however instead as its platform is well supported and you can upgrade to an i5 later on.

The CPU will for sure bottleneck the GPU, get atleast an i5 for that GPU monster

CPU: Xeon 1230v3 - GPU: GTX 770  - SSD: 120GB 840 Evo - HDD: WD Blue 1TB - RAM: Ballistix 8GB - Case: CM N400 - PSU: CX 600M - Cooling: Cooler Master 212 Evo

Update Plans: Mini ITX this bitch

Seems like a good all-round system to me. I would definitely keep the SSD (Crucial M500), it makes a huge difference.

I'm a Western Digital fan (haven't had good luck with Seagate HDDs unfortunately), so I would replace the Seagate HDD with a Western Digital Caviar Blue - this comes down to personal preferance though :)

CPU: i7 4790K @ 4.7GHz | Mobo: MSI Z97 MPower Max AC | RAM: 16GB Kingston HyperX Beast 2400MHz | GPU: MSI GTX980 Gaming 4G TwinFrozr V | Case: NZXT Switch 810 SE | Cooler: Corsair H105 Hydro |

SSD: Samsung 850 Pro 512GB | Storage: WD Caviar Black 3TB | Displays: Samsung P2450 & Samsung 2232GW | Keyboard: Tesoro Colada G3NL Black Aluminum (Cherry MX Brown)

An SSD is only gonna help boot windows faster and load games quicker. He can always add that later, if he were to get an i3 he'd be stuck with that unless he wanted to spend more to upgrade. I think it's best he just get an i5, then next paycheck pick up an ssd then add it on.

Maybe go for one of these configs (Link is in dutch but op is dutch so shouldn't be a problem). Those systems are more balanced (cheaper rig with a R9 280 and more expensive one with a gtx 970)

G5 casemod is done :D!

i5 2500K with Scythe Mugen 2 Rev. B | Asrock P67 Extreme4 Gen3 | 8GB @1600 | Club3D HD 7950 royalKing | Corsair Carbide 500R Black | Samsung 830 SSD 128GB + 2TB HDD | XFX ProSeries 750W XXX | dell u2312hm
