Connecting a GPU with power?

You connect both. Sometimes your PSU will have a 6-pin and then an 8-pin, other times there will be a 6-pin and a 6-pin + 2-pin to connect.

Connect both the 6 and the 8 pin

connect both the 6pin and the 8pin the 6pin could be a 6+2pin, so you connect the six pin an leave the 2pin just handing off
