I didn't really know where to post this but it is tech related so i guess it fits here.  I the spring trimester at my school we needed to make a work of art in the style of a modern artist of our choosing.  The winner and runners up, who are chosen by a pannel of judges receive a prize.  The winner getting $150 and the runners up getting $100.  I chose Claes Oldenburd an American artist bor in Sweden.  He takes normal, every day objects and makes them much bigger than the original.  I took this idea and chose an object, a pool table, and made it smaller.  I asked my school's tech department if I could use their 3D printer and received permission to do so.  I created 3D models using Google SketchUp.  Creating the files took about three hours and printing took upwards of six.  The display case was not printed I bought it.  I was runner up for my project and received $100 dollars.  The school did take my project but I can always make another.  Give feedback, just look at the pictures, ignore I just wanted to share this; so this is my first experience with 3D printing here are some pictures.

You just added something to my list of stuff to print once I get my printer.

Will work for electronic components and parts

I'm trying to design a 3d scanner, that takes a 6 axis 360 panoramic of the object and turns it into a 3d model.

how cool would it be to step into a machine and turn yourself into a video game character?

(I'm nowhere near even making a prototype, it's just an idea I'm thinking of.)

I know someone who made a program that does this. He made the program so it can do this with a few pictures aswell as video.

Edit: this is the website of their company, on the solutions page they talk about 3D reconstruction.
